forget to add this is dm_desert map but you probably realised by now
On the first screenshot there's a solid object between your marine and the camera, on the second screenshot you can see yourself clearly. I'm not a developer but I'd assume that less obstruction results in louder sound.

In other cases objects dont make sounds quieter though
by default ears are where the camera is located, in the air. you can change that with asw_hear_from_marine 1
also asw_hear_height might be useful

So if we play as a zombie in infection mode and we stand like this our ,,idle chainsaw noises'' become much more quieter as usual however if we use alt to switch our vision noises become fully hearable just like normal its is a bug or im stupid?
