The final requirements for notification service.

• User can be notified about their inactivity.
• Calendar can send notification to user by any medium. (Email, Push, In-app)
• How will we handle dismissing notifications?
• how will we handle the case where multiple people get the same notification, but they have to manage it on their notifications list
• Have the analytics over notification service to analyse the data.

• Notify about new tasks, task asignemnts, missing deadlines, over dew tasks, reassignments of tasks
• Notify about the ongoing events, planned events, discord calls, hangout sync (if opted)
• Notify about the user related events, like being promoted as member, getting a new role
• Nofity about the PR reviews, comments, issues assigned, merged PR, failed tests in CI

• To identify the Messaging system as per our use-case Kafka/ Rabbit MQ
• We can have priority of messages (Promotional / Announcements / Subscription to some event on the calendar site)
• The notification service should expose the APIs to the other services, its job will be to handle the validation of requests coming.
• We should build the service to easily support a new SMS or email provider in future.
• The notification service should handle Authentication and Authorization of requests coming.
• Decide on a push-based model vs a pull-based model (Kafka = pull vs rabbit MQ = push) Kafka pull-based model
• How we can retry messages on failure
• We should try building a user preference system similar to slack
• Integration of WhatsApp message delivery.
• We can choose multiple SMS providers based on pricing for the region. For instance, Twillio for the US and some others for India, based on pricing.
