remembering the last folder correctly #19

I think there is a bug for QuickMove and QuickJump when there are multiple (sub)folders with the same name. (QuickFolders 4.17.5)

Suppose I have subfolders "a/target" and "b/target". When I use the hotkeys for QuickMove or QuickJump and type "target", I get a drop-down that lists both subfolders. I pick the one I want. Suppose I pick "b/target". If I later do one of those hotkeys, the search box is pre-filled with the remembered subfolder name "target". If I hit enter to accept it, it seems to always go to the alphabetically first one (in this case, "a/target").

What I expected is that it remembered that I chose "b/target" last time, and that should be chosen if I just hit enter. Instead, I have to go to the search box, backspace over the last character and type it again to get the drop-down list again.

I think if you use the parent name this is remembered, too; let's say I want to jump (or move mail) to the folder Addopns/QuickFollders/Licenses, and type "ad/qu/li":

next time I do quickJump / quickMove it is remembered:

If you enter a single folder name then it is remembered as a single word only. To fix this, should it always automatically add the parent name?

The suggestion in your last question sounds like an elegant solution to the problem.

I wouldn't want to do that all the time, it would be cool if the parent path was only added if the name was not unique without these measures. I will look into this. In the meantime, you can use the workaround of adding parent names for the ones in question...

Perhaps this - see screenshot - is the same or a similar problem. Notice the duplicate entries.

Also: if I use QF to move an email, it is expected that the 'move to . . again' option shows a folder other than the one I just used? For that's what happens on one (I haven't tested the others) of my PCs.

can you add the search field on top to that screenshot? It's doesn't look like the quickMove / quickJump function of QuickFolders as that doesn't have the folder icons you show. The quickMove button is on the top left of the QuickFolders toolbar, here: image

i don't recall using the folder icon on the dropdown, but my screenshot above is from Windows 7. It is possible that Paenglab (who helped with icons) created a rule that only work in Windows 10

Apologies. The window I showed owes to the context menu and turns out to owe to Thunderbird itself, not QF. Should I delete my post above (and this one)?

no it's fine we will just go on with the original post! Others can make the same mistake so it's good to see.
