Mica affect doesn't apply correctly in control panel #550

Description

Pretty self explanatory. The issue started after messing with startallback and explorerpatcher for a bit. At least this is what I think. I read SAB uses some dark msstyles so thats what I imagine the reason is. I read it in a patch thread in the server which I didn't understand how to do so I came here to see if it is really SAB related or something else.

Steps To Reproduce

Open CPL. Click on "Uninstall a program"

Rectify11 Version

3.2.68.0

Windows Version

Windows 11 24H2 26100.712

Which msstyles are you using? Does the bug also exist in the navigation pane in Explorer?

Hey, first of all - how you been? Second, I am using the msstyles shipped with Rectify11 - I switched to dark theme and switched back to the mica theme to make sure. The bug doesn't happen in the explorer navigation poane, since I am using startallbhack and epm and even switched it to the "windows 10" one. It only happens in control panel.

I'm good, thank you. Now I think the issue is happening because I can see that the text in the listview is composited, which may have led to this. Can you try removing EBM and using MFE temporarily to see if it's fixed?

I removed and applied mfe, it worked. Now what? I still would prefer explorermicablur.

I have the same issue but in the explorer quick access panel. Probably something in the new update broke compatibility with ExplorerBlurMica. I have been using it with Rectify 11 before this update and it was working beautifully. However the R11 control panel didn't work before.

I tried on a fresh install to download and apply EMB and it works perfectly. I think the reason might be startallback?

hey I had the issue too, starting around a month ago, but only in explorer navpane. tested 22631 and 26217. Only occurs when explorerblurmica is installed and using a rectify msstyles. dark with mica actually works fine, but all others have the solid black background. Also some of the glyphs up top are missing except in dark mode.

I was able to kind of fix it by manually reverting my msstyles to version 3.2.60 outside the installer (so it still shows 3.2.70.1 in rectifystart).

Startallback not installed. happy to work with you guys to find the issue and test stuff, just let me know if you need any logs or anything! :)

Hi! Thank you for the response. Yeah I would love if you can elaborate more. Do you prefer to keep the conversaton going here, or move into discord which should be a bit easier?

I fixed my issue with the black background by backing up the rectify 11 dark theme from the older version (v3.0), uninstalling r11 completely, then installing the new version (v3.1) and after that copying the themes i backed up and overwriting the new ones. I use explorerblurmica and the backgrounds are translucent on everything now. Explorer, control panel, start menu, etc.

I installed the latest version of rectify 11, but copied the themes from the older version on top of the ones from this last one and overwritten them. I can detail it step by step if needed. It works flawlessly now!

  1. Uninstall R11 completely. Make sure it's gone with no leftovers.
  2. Install an older version of R11 (i have an older installer on my external drive, version 3.0). You don't need to do a full install of it, just tick the themes only.
  3. Go to C/windows/resources/ and copy the "themes" folder to another location as backup.
  4. Uninstall R11 again completely.
  5. Install the latest version on R11, make sure to tick the themes button and whatever extras you want (i use better context menus, themes and system icons only).
  6. Go to windows settings/personalisation/themes and pick a theme you don't use. I for one picked rectify11 light theme.
  7. Go to the folder where you backed up the themes from the previous install, copy the ”themes" folder and paste it in into C/windows/resources/. Make sure to overwrite. It will give you an error that you don't have permission or the theme is in use (that's why you picked the theme you will never use since that wont get overwritten).
  8. Open the rectify11 control panel and pick the theme you want (i use rectify dark mode), along with any other choices you have in the rectify control panel. Make sure to restart explorer and the secureuxtheme patcher.
  9. Restart PC and enjoy.

EDIT: As i was saying, i use explorerblurmica with acrylic as the effect, and the rectify 11 dark theme (not the rectify 11 dark with mica). This is the end result. image

EDIT 2: I used to have the black background in the file explorer quick access menu (probably mica even though i didn't install or use anything related to it). No matter what i did related to themes or extras from R11, it would still be black. After doing this, the theme properly skins the quick access menu, and does not apply that black effect to it. In regards to your original picture, you probably use dark theme with mica? If you look at my screen, i also have a background in the uninstall programs window, however it's the dark mode grey instead of the black background due to mica. I guess that's still something that cannot be skinned.

Hey, thanks so much for the reply. Just to make sure - by doing that, it will fix that black background in uninstall programs but since it replaces the latest msstyles, which have new animations - I will lose those. Also, from your last edit, I understand that it is something that can't be skinned. I'm very confused. Appreciate the answer but I would love if you can make it clearer.
