Missing glyphs in RedHat Mono #45

Open mpieczaba opened 2 years ago

RedHat Mono is a beautiful font, sadly with untapped potential.

It really annoys me that the font is missing backtick glyphs (`). Moreover, some glyphs like @ or © have fixed weight regardless of the picked style.

I look forward to any updates and keep fingers crossed in believing that this project is not over.

Hi @mpieczaba we are looking into why the ` isn't working.

Where are you noticing the @ © weight not changing?

mpieczaba commented 2 years ago

@jeremymickel Thank you for your response. I have reinstalled the font. Since then @ and © seem to work fine but these glyphs compared to different characters look very thin. You can check it by yourself here by moving the font size slider to lower values and scrolling down to bold weights.

Unfortunately, the issue with backticks still occurs. You can also notice it on Google Fonts.

The weird thing is in jetbrains' IDEs, when ligature is not enabled, it seems to be fine. However, in other editors like vs code and sublime text 4, disabling ligature makes no difference. Screenshot from 2022-04-27 21-09-07 Screenshot from 2022-04-27 21-10-22

@jeremymickel Thank you for your excellent work! I don't want to bother you anymore but if you have some free time, can you take a look at @, ®, © and other similar glyphs? Do they look really thin just for me? image

Also, me as probably many other programmers would love to see RedHat Code - RedHat Mono with ligatures

I can't wait for the next release and I'm sure writing code with RedHat Mono is going to be even more enjoyable.
