Dashboard: System Subscription Status

Setup

• Register and subscribe one or more systems to an organization with access to RHEL content
• Register one or more systems to an organization but subscribe to content that doesn't match the system's arch
• Register and subscribe one or more systems to an organization with no content

  Actions

• Login to https://[SAM_SERVER]/sam using admin/admin
• Click the Dashboard tab
• Observe the following parameters available and the corressponding charts under the 'System Subscription Status
  • List the total number of red systems that have "Invalid subscriptions".
  • List the total number of yellow systems that have "Insufficient Entitlements".
  • List the total number of green systems that have valid Subscriptions.
  • List the total number of systems registered
  • Display the percentage of systems by different systems.(Coloured Pie Chart )

    Validation

• Registered and subscribed systems should be listed:
  • as green if they are fully compliant (are subscribed to content that matches its arch and type)
  • as yellow if they don't have all subscriptions that would make them compliant
  • as red if they're not subscribed to any content or if the content they're subscribed to does not match its arch and type
• The total number of registered systems should be displayed

In order to test all 3 categories (red, yellow, green)

• real red hat content, which would bloat the execution time and space requirements
• fake content with product certs

The latter would also require https://github.com/Katello/katello/issues/1619 to be fixed. I am not sure if Ivan produced product certs for his fake content, if not I'll ask him to.

However we can start with just registering systems that aren't subscribed to rhel and noting that they are all red.

Yes, adding real RHEL content is definitely time consuming, but on one hand, for headpin this can be done easily since there is no sync or promotion involved. So for headpin we could automate all of the things mentioned here but for katello, for the time being, checking for "red" systems is definitely a good start.
