[Suggestion] Make damage buttons in chat card semantically easier to recognize #336

By default, the damage buttons in chat cards are ordered in the following way:

  1. Full Damage
  2. Quarter Damage
  3. Half Damage
  4. Double Damage

Though I can see why some users would want to have full damage as the first button (it is the most frequently used button), my players and I find it hard to remember which button is for half/quarter/double damage. Semantically, we would find it easier to remember the damage buttons in this order:

  1. Quarter Damage
  2. Half Damage
  3. Full Damage
  4. Double Damage

This would help us out, but every table is different! Perhaps an option to configure the order of the buttons would keep everyone happy?

I mean, if contributed I wouldn't push against it, but I think I'd be more likely to change the icons to be clearer rather than swapping the order. For example, these are the pathfinder 2e icons:

Would just need an icon for quarter.

MarkeyMarke commented 3 years ago

@CarlosFdez I think swapping the icons would suffice!

As for an idea on the 'quarter damage' icon: Do you see how there is a gray half for 'half damage'? Perhaps for 'quarter damage' it can be all gray?

you could dig on https://game-icons.net/ for potential alternatives as well.

I still like the completely gray broken heart icon put together with the PF2E icons. I'm not a UX designer, but I think the pattern makes sense:

Based on the CSS PF2E uses I think this would suffice: broken-heart

Otherwise, I think this makes a fine alternative, as it looks like there's a life bar taken out by roughly a quarter: life-bar

Might work. After Tuesday I might have some time to put them in.

My suggestions:

  1. Damage, alternative
  2. Double damage: Icon1x2, or some simple shop of the above.
  3. Resistance/Half damage: Icon1, shopped in half.
  4. Heal
