This is so well done. I've only tested in FL Studio so far but I was amazed at how well it worked. I really liked the work around with the mixer track banking. I'm not sure if all the lights are supposed to stay on, I'm using the latest driver that installed with Pro Tools Intro. I discovered this quite late in the evening, setup was simple and it worked straight away but I can't wait to test this with Reaper.

The alternative is the V-Control, costly and it's absolute garbage. Yours is way more efficient and stable. I wasn't able to get any LCD channel strip feedback but that's not a deal breaker at all. I couldn't find any info here to confirm whether or not it's even supposed to work.

I can't wait to explore this further, thank you so much.

Ahh man thank you for the kind words! I'm really happy someone found some use for it. Took me a few weeks to reverse engineer the desk. Currently, the LED channel strips don't work as I never figured out the correct byte sequence. I figured ID focus on getting the most important things for me working, which was motorized faders and banking, The LED's and LCD screen was a minor for me! If you have any issues please let me know and ill be happy to help you!

Absolutely, I wish I had more experience with this deeper level of binding scripts so I could be helpful. I actually started off trying to figure out how to crack open the Digidesign Command 8 riddle using a midi tracer in FL Studio.

I could see the output from the Command 8 faders ect but realised it was going to be a mind fuck to convert all the hexadecimal to decimal. They also locked down their MCU template and I couldn't get my hands on a copy, only a revised version someone did for the Xtouch. It was just too much of a long shot to even interpret. You outdid yourself with this.

I remember when the Command 8 came out because I was working in TV doing Audio Post and our Control 24 broke down, I had to use a Command 8 because Digidesign had nothing else to lend us while the repairs were done. I thought the Command 8 was actually better, the Control 24 had horrible encoders and the touch faders would often play up.

We all used to piss and moan about Digidesign how they were screwing everyone with their lack of cross DAW support with the latest gear. No HUI or MCU etc. The Standalone mode was pathetic. We all agreed someone would figure it out, too bad it's most 20 years later. I picked up my Command 8 for 80 GPB a few years ago. I was sure as hell there was a solution by now but the V-Control didn't impress me.

I ended up in a similar situation found online for £60 grabbed it realised the standalone mode is effectively useless. Dumped the flash memory and hooked it up to a USB packet analyser quickly learned it uses a weird midi/sysex system and begun to document everything and found a mackie unit that was similar in design and wrote the translation layer.

Ultimately it's probably better to be done in python nowadays and I actually begun working on a teensy based hardware translator that goes between the usb connection and wouldn't of required any software but i ended up going for an analouge desk in the end.

It's a well built unit which is literally just hampered by a stupid software lock. Intresting to hear your story with it! I always really liked the faders by far better than the behringers.
