Hi Nina, you asked me for some tips about fundraising. I put together a few quick thoughts about what to-do / to-check before going for fundraising. Entrepreneurs sometimes overlook some of the basic questions before going for funding.

There are endless resources about possible sources/options for funding a small business. I can summarize this checklist useful.

Before fundraising checklist:

I will provide herewith a simple check list for entrepreneurs to go through before discovering different options to raise seed fund for their business idea: 1- Do you have a product-Market fit? Did you validate your business idea and made sure you will have people interested to buy your product/service? 2- Do you have a previous experience in the type of business you want to start? If no, nothing wrong with it but be aware that you will do some mistakes along the way and you should gain experience first before risking your own money and the money of other people.
3- Do you have the right team in place? Right partners are essential for a successful business. Make sure you have the right people with the right qualifications / experience before you go for funding. 4- How many competitors do you have? Are you going to open a shawarma restaurant in the same neighborhood which has already 3 shawarma restaurants? 5- Did you start building relationships with the right community that could support your business? If not, you have to start immediately. In real life, Relationship and trust-based fundraising is the key to getting funded. 6- And finally, do you know exactly how much fund you need to raise? Do you have a detailed business plan and financial projections? If not, you need to start using this simple financial projections template which shall help you answer important questions about your business idea (see attached excel file)

Couldn't attache the file but this is the link to download it. I have used this template with several entrepreneurs and proved to be working very well. Users may need to make some changes as required to fit their own business idea and its specific calculations. It requires some basic knowledge of excel. This template is a public source and you can find it on the internet.
