still looking #85

Graduated in '04 with a degree in computer science. Most of my friends had their offers rescinded the year we graduated and got the jobs I was applying for. Couldn't find any internships or entry level positions at all. Wanted to be a game programmer, never was able to find a company in the industry interested in talking to me. Most of my interviewers were with non technical people or with people who had never heard of my University, was told I had gotten a Bachelors of Arts or a two year degree. Have been trying hard for ten years to use my degree to find an entry level job but everyone just says it should be easy. Have lost all my friends after they realized it wasn't easy. Haven't really socialized for a few years. Nothing seems to be working, can't find a job anywhere, can't even find anyone to talk to or a place to be where my whole life doesn't seem like a waste. I enjoy coding operating systems and networks stacks and was foolish to think it would be applicable to a job anywhere. When I search for programming jobs I find they are filled with people who have Arts or History degrees. Not sure what to do to feed myself with a worthless education.

Sorry to hear it friend. Are you still looking? It seems like you're interested in network and OS stuff and thus I'm going to guess you enjoy more of a C or C++ type environment? I would love to help if you're still looking. Do you mind if I ask where you're located?

Brain- thanks for the message from a month ago. I am unemployed and homeless. I am currently in Pittsburgh but my car is broken down. Yes I have been looking for jobs in applications development instead of web or apps development but haven't been able to find any. I have always been searching for an entry level position. I gave up on finding a real programming job before I even graduated and never found an entry level position in programming or anything else including food services. I don't know what to be asking my career center. I don't know what to be saying to recruiters who want me to explain why I have been unemployed. I have never found jobs available to college graduates or programmers. I have attached my current resume. I don't know who I should be speaking to or asking for help, I feel like I have asked everyone and tried everything. Most of my experience is in C and C++ but I am willing to learn or work on anything. If you have any clue what I should be doing in order to find any type of employment that would be extremely helpful. Attached is my resume.
