Sensor detection is inconsistent #1794

Describe the bug Using latest version. I had everything setup how I wanted and all was working great, came back to PC the next day (PC was switched of) and half of fans cannot be controlled anymore and most of my temperature sensors have vanished. Killed of the FanControl install and tried again from scratch and now everytime I run the "assisted setup" I get different results, for example... 1st run of Assisted setup: image

2nd run of Assisted setup image

FanControl is running as admin with no plugins, I did have the NZXT KRAKEN plugin but thats not even enabled in the above.

To be clear on the intial fully working install I could control all the fans except for whatever fan #5 is, I couldnt identify what that was anywhere, So I assume its a random sensor that isnt really a fan or something....

I also on the original install that worked great had 5 motherboard temperature sensors which was perfect, after the reboot i only had sensor #5 for a while and now as you can see below that ones gone now as well. image image (oddly its picking up the Kraken here which it wouldnt before, hence me using the plugin)

As you can see im just rather confused by all this, it worked fine the 1st time i used it, now its a mess.

Is there a log.txt file next to FanControl.exe with recent date entries? Nope no log file, the only issue i had was the "unblock" problem on the 1st install that I solved the normal way.

Relevant hardware specs and setup Motherboard: Asus prime b450 plus Cpu: AMD Ryzen 5800x3d Cooler: NZXT Kraken x63 GPU: ASUS Strix 2060

Here is a 3rd Assisted setup run where it detected more fans and was able to control them but once I am able to mess with things.... I cant actually effect anything except for my intake fan, all the other fans RPM is not effected (im watching them in the case as well) image

Assisted setup run literally seconds after grabbing the screenshot in the last comment: image Im so confused.

Seems like something else is messing with your fans, which confuses FanControl. What settings you got going in your bios regarding fans? Do you have motherboard software installed?

Skullywag commented 1 year ago

I havent checked the BIOS setting but itll be whatever it is by default, I havent touched anything in there really (bar some RAM stuff) and no no ASUS software installed at all, I had NZXT CAM installed but ive disabled that from starting up while I work with Fan Control.

I'm having the same issue with the almost? same motherboard (asus prime b450m-k II) and it does exactly the same thing, after rebooting the pc it's not controlling fans anymore and just shows random numbers. although aida64 is grabbing their speed correctly. image The interesting thing that i found is that, after launching armoury crate, official software the motherboard comes in with, it starts recognizing it normally, even with the armoury crate app being closed right after. gif but the cycle repeats after reboot. deleting armoury crate doesn't change anything. Don't know if that will be any helpful.

Seems there might be an ongoing issue with ASUS B450 mobos over on the LHM issue queue, i can see quite a few still open issues with no resolution over there.

安装cpuid hwmonitor,打开就好了 后面再出现问题,重启下hwmonitor

It works, but why?
