Fan Spin-up and Downs that are not shown in graphs #2195

Describe the bug I have a new computer with an Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a Noctua NH-D15 with 2 Fans in Push-Setup. When i play games, the Fans are mostly running as I set their Fan-Curve.

However every now and then the Fans suddenly spin up to 100% for a couple of seconds and down to normal shortly after, however nothing of that behaviour and the possible reason are shown in the Fan Control UI. Percentage and graph look normal and CPU temperatures also stay in normal ranges. This picture was taken while one these spin-ups. image

This is my curve setting for the CPU: image and the case fans (2 at the Front, 1 at the Back) image

Maybe a sensor in the CPU is detecting weird temperature spikes that are causing the motherboard to interfere with fan control, but I'm not sure if that's the case as I had never something like that happen before.

Relevant hardware specs and setup

Same issue here. One of the installed fans (connected to a chassis header) stops following the set curve and spins up to max rpm under medium-high system load. Setting it to a fixed value and checking the force apply flag does not solve the problem and has not impact besides it following the set value until it - apparently randomly - spins up again.

Fan Control 175 (NET 7.0)

@formi do you get a small "?" appearing next to the % value of the control when that happens?

iowyn commented 8 months ago

Hi @Rem0o , I've got the same occurance as above, Version 179 and Nvidia drivers 546.65, pretty sure since the Nvidia release prior too. The ? does show, on each GPU fan for the 2080ti MSI. Enabling the Force apply (!) doesn't force selected fan curve. Any details we can supply to help debug?

You're doing Amazing work with this by the way. I hope community requests are being helpful for you and not encumbersome.

No, there is nothing like that. The issue persists on version 179. It seems to be working fine when switching the fans' control mode to DC within the BIOS, even tho it is a PWM-fan.
