PDF file association - OLE Editor #6

Closed Jmccoach closed 1 year ago

I installed AiChat for RDi 9.6 and after install I received an error for "OLE Editor - no file associated". I had a PDF file open so when the restart of RDi happened I received the same error. I tried to manually associate file extension pdf but that didn't work. I uninstalled AiChat and that fixed the OLE Editor error. Can you help?

Thanks for reporting. I'm not sure what could have caused that. I will try to duplicate this myself. Do you have any messages in the error log view that could be of interest?

I looked at it but can't duplicate it.

Nothing gets pulled in other than our plugins, and they have nothing to do with editors. Please close any embedded PDF that you might have opened before restarting and then try to open the PDF again.

Did you try to open a pdf from within RDi simply by double-clicking? That’s when I saw the error. What version of RDi are you running? I tried the close and reopen but still got the error. The only thing I didn’t try was reboot after install, only restart of RDi.

When I doubleclick on a PDF inside Eclipse the PDF is opened in a browser for me.

I don't have to do anything for it but you can also associate the external editor with *pdf like so:

For some reason I don't have pdf in my list of file associations. I will add it and then reinstall AiChat. That should fix it. Thanks for the example. Great session you did at COMMON!
