Plex added something like this #71

Just wanted to say that plex just added something like this but I personally will continue to use plex auto languages as this is a more streamlined approach imo. Thank you for making this tool!

Yeah, I just saw this on r/PleX this morning, to be honest that's amazing ! I will try to challenge this new feature so that we can have a clear comparison between the two, but I have no doubt that the builtin Plex solution will be great, if not greater than Plex-Auto-Languages. I will let you know.

I imagine it will be pretty good too but the problem I have with it is, is that it's not exactly per user. So as long as you don't change Seasons or TV shows themselves than it is. But if I go in and I force a series under edit and then advanced and I change the language, that is then forced upon all of my users. But as long as I don't do that then it is per user because they can go into their client settings and change the language there. But with Plex Auto languages it is truly per user regardless of if I change a subtitle or not. Now Plex may change all this in the future but managed accounts or non-admin accounts in general don't have the power to edit items inside of plex

Plex and Plex-Auto-Languages (or PAL for short) handle audio and subtitles in different ways. With Plex, you can set a default language, but it will automatically select the first available audio track in that language. PAL, on the other hand, allows you to choose the exact audio and subtitle tracks that you prefer.

Take Dragon Ball Z as an example. The show has an original Japanese audio track but also comes with three different styles of English dubs due to its international airings. With PAL, you can specifically select which style of English dub you want to hear. Once you've made your choice, PAL saves it. This gives you the audio you actually want, instead of Plex's more generalized approach of picking the first available English track.
