Bug description

Cloned from main as of this moment (14 MAR 2023 - 1130 Pacific Timezone)

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS - 5.15.0-67-generic - in a VM

Just a suggested update: Following the README, the build does not work and has errors

Following a method in a bug comment: sudo make dkms

DOES work and I believe is a better suggestion going forward.

Also, THANK YOU @snuf !!!! I've been using your repo to use legacy equipment in production build for years now and you deserve a lot of credit!

Upon reboot the machine freezes during boot.
