I think this would be really useful as it would allow 3rd party developers to
create their own keyboard layouts
(e.g. - klingon, swahili, yiddish, etc) regardless of how large the specific
language community is for that
language.
Google might choose to provide a page on their api website pointing to
(unsupported by Google) 3rd party
keyboard layouts.

One variation of interest would be to have alphabetic order of chars. Also
inscript keyboard is required for Telugu and other indian languages.
Currently it is only available for Hindi. Please provide inscript keyboards
for Telugu and other languages or allow crowd sourcing of the map file. For a
small application which makes use of onscreen keyboards to search wiki sites
in Indian languages from public access kiosks, see http://gyanpad.appspot.com

I would like support for tamil99, an intuitive and scientifically-designed
layout for Tamil. It requires the least amount of keystrokes to type Tamil text
and has been endorsed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

arjunaraoc: The information about INSCRIPT keyboard on
http://www.tdil.mit.gov.in/isciichart.pdf is not very good. we are looking at
http://javadesktop.org/articles/InputMethod/indicmapping.html
http://javadesktop.org/articles/InputMethod/indiclayout.html
for reference now. Do you think the information on that two page is good?

Reply to Comment5. Yes the reference cited are fine for Inscript. Since Hindi
inscript is already implemented, it should be pretty easy to add support for
other languages.
