M3U8 stream was not successfully played to Oculus Quest 2 #896

Describe the issue When using a real-time streaming device, Avpro cannot play the source of the device, but the PC version and M3U8 files placed in the Quset2 local file or the video on the AWS CDN server can be played. Please help me to check this log so that I can understand what might be causing it to fail, I will mail the logcat file to your email, thank you

Hi there,

Had a look at the email you sent. There don't seem to be any AVPro Video errors in the log.

Could you please let us know the following:

  1. Does your video play in the editor when using the https url?
  2. Have you set your internet access to 'require' in the player settings in Unity?
  3. It's probably a good idea to use OES mode for this video as the logs indicate it is 8k, see here for details.
  4. Could you please send an active url to the video so that we can test it? You can paste it here or send via email.

In addition, when we recently tested this video stream on the PC, a new problem was that the video would freeze after a period of continuous playback. This phenomenon occurred in the old version of avpro 1.0 for about 5 minutes, and about 10 in 2.0. This phenomenon occurs in 15 minutes.

Was this on Windows 10? In editor, build or both?

Sorry, I've also missed that you're playing this off a real-time streaming device. I misread and thought you were playing off a server.

What is your device/setup exactly?

At present, I have a new problem. Unity doesn’t seem to bring in EXO player components when I export to the VR headset, which results in no video being played in the headset.

Could you give more details? What makes you think that ExoPlayer components aren't being included? Do you have logs via adb log cat?

If you try a development build does it work?

Perhaps Unity is stripping the Java classes during an optimisation phase. Please check our Android platform documentation for some quirks:

Added note, the target resolution video as the target of automatic playback is also unable to play the video correctly.

We observed that when the video stream is played in the editor, it will play smoothly on the timeline of version 1.0, but it will continue to jump on the timeline in version 2.0.

Hi @Andjiang707

As Andrew mentioned this post has become a bit difficult to follow as you've spoken of a number of issues in different comments.

This is what I understand so far:

  1. You mentioned a stream failing to play. I tested the link you sent and it failed, and I'm not sure if it's because the stream isn't currently active or if because playback from your device is not something we support. Could you send the file locally so we can have a closer look?
  2. You mentioned ExoPlayer components not being present in VR Headset. We'd need more info to figure out what's going wrong here. This should be logged as a separate Github issue.
  3. You mentioned the target resolution of the video is unable to play correctly. This should also be logged as a separate issue with more information provided. Is this the same stream as the original post? What do you mean exactly by not playing the target resolution? On which platform/device?
  4. You also mentioned that a video would freeze after continuous playback. Again, is this the same stream? Which platform/device? Do you have any error logs to share?

First of all, I’m sorry to confuse you, because I didn’t know that the content of this email would be automatically synchronized with the github post. 😫😫 So I personally think this is a one-to-one consultation channel.And now I know I made a mistake.

Question response:

  1. The streaming media device should be in an inactive state.
  2. I made a mistake in reading the error message, there is no problem in this part.
  3. It is not a question of the original post. I will ask questions again after the arrangements are made.
  4. This applies to Android (Q2, focus) and PC. The stream problem is the same as the output stream of the device in 1, the stream will be directly frozen and there is no error record.
