As a renter in San Jose, I want to have a basic explanation of the conditions that determine whether I am covered by existing rent control provisions

Hi Kyle, I'm with Code for San Jose. We have a similar project called Renter's Rights Guide. I built this website with our volunteers in 2017 to inform renters in San Jose about local rent ordinances, their rights and resources. We based our UI on user research and interviews with nonprofit and city stakeholders. I maintained it up until now. I recently archived the website for various reasons, one of which is the City of San Jose Housing Department has recently improved their UI.

If it helps with this issue, you can take a look at the last version of the website https://github.com/codeforsanjose/renters-rights/tree/scratch/version-2-before-the-archive

Also, the link for the City of San Jose above doesn't work. It's https://www.sanjoseca.gov/your-government/departments/housing/renters-apartment-owners/apartment-rent-ordinance/tenant-protection-ordinance OR https://sanjoseca.gov/rent

Hi Yan-Yin, thanks for reaching out, and for sharing your work with us! This will help us properly document San Jose's rent ordinances on our site.
