  1. About Page: Remove the “The” in front of TechEquity Collaborative

  2. Home Page: The language under the “How much can my landlord charge in rent” section of--

“Depending on whether or not you live in a city that already has a rent control ordinance, or not, allowable rent increases may vary. If your city does not already have rent control, but already know you’re protected by the Tenant Protection Act of 2019, our calculator will help you make sure you’re not being overcharged for your rent.”

Should be changed to:

“Depending on whether or not you live in a city that already has a rent control ordinance, allowable rent increases may vary. If your unit is not covered by a local rent control ordinance, but you already know you’re protected by the Tenant Protection Act of 2019, our calculator will help you make sure you’re not being overcharged for your rent.”

  1. Resources Page: Add "...to get support" in “To get involved in a statewide coalition fighting for tenants rights, Housing Now!, sign-up here < to get support >: www.housingnowca.org”

  2. Change section on Section 8 voucher holders to explain that they are covered and provide some caution. One possibility: “You have a Housing Voucher and are protected by the new law. To fully understand these protections, as well as other protections that may be available to you, we recommend you seek legal counsel.”

Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) not covered

  3. Capitalize "Bill" in "About the bill" in the header

  4. Remove the Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto blurb & logo from "About Us" section & remove their name from the first paragraph but list them as a volunteer in the second paragraph.

  5. In the eligibility section: "Congratulations we think you are likely to be protected from "unjust" evictions under AB-1482, as long are your building hasn't recieved a "certificate of occupancy" within the last 15 years. Since you didn't know how old your building is we'd recommend connecting with local resources below to find out."

We should take out the "Congratulations/Felicitaciones". In cases where the answer is not 100 percent certain, we suggest avoiding language like “Congratulations/Felicitaciones” since it could be confusing for the tenants if they are not protected by TPA.

We should also fix the typo "recieved" to "received".

  1. Change to La Renta instead of El Renta (Spanish)

  2. Typo of "Tenant Proteciton Act" instead of Tenant Protection Act (English)

  3. Grammar: https://tenantprotections.org/eligibility/state/coverage/notCovered ("you having")
