Translation of R-specific curriculum lessons to Python #1

Open hlapp opened 9 years ago

hlapp commented 9 years ago

At present, the Literate Programming and the Automation lessons are specific to R as the programming language. However, the concepts being taught in these lessons are in no way tied to R, and other programming languages, in particular Python, are at least as or even more popular in many fields of science. The R lessons being difficult to follow for Python users is also a common feedback we have received at the workshops we have taught.

I'm happy to help work on this.

apawlik commented 9 years ago

Me too! Esp. that there is interest from social scientists.

How much of the material are we expecting to be able to translate during the hackathon? I'm wondering what should be prioritized.

Tracy and I (and others?) are going to discuss this today (Dec 10) and put together a plan for a future python translation hackathon.

apawlik commented 8 years ago

Could I join in?

kcranston commented 8 years ago

Decided that this was out of scope for this hackathon, but will approach potential partners about planning a subsequent hackathon to work on python materials.
