Met with Steve Chall to begin exploring American Community Survey data.
Attempted to meet with Kristine Hassmiller Lich and her team to discuss ACS data. Scheduling issues have proven difficult.
Met with Michael and Lisa to discuss roadway exposures (i.e., distance from major roadway). They will be expanding the environmental service to include data on roadway exposures.
Initial meeting with Jim Johnson is scheduled for 7/18/17. Cancelled by Jim.
Documentation on proposed socioenvironmental data and models distributed to Red Team, Blue Team, Orange Team, and NCATS.
Hackathon: Michael worked with Sarav to pull CMAQ aldehyde data (acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, higher aldehydes) for 2010 and 2011. Kara to develop relevant metrics for asthma use case. Kara also will reach out to Maureen to discuss the data and application to Fanconi Anemia.
October 20, 2017: Kara met with Jim Johnson to discuss ACS data. A follow-up meeting is being scheduled with Steve Appold (Kenan-Flagler, ACS expert) and Ann Joyner and Allan Parnell (Cedar Grove Institute for Sustainable Communities, experts on the use of public data to identify community disparities in access to 'safe' schools and housing conditions, clean water, etc). Stan and Dave will also be invited, schedule permitting.
November 2017 - December 2017: UNC Creativity Hub proposal for a Carolina Knowledge Network was submitted but denied funding. The proposal aimed, in part, to incorporate socioenvironmental exposures into the existing Translator environmental exposures service. Meeting to be scheduled with review committee and Kenan-Flagler folks.
November 2017 - December 2017 - Michael, Lisa, and Sarav have extended Green Team's existing environmental exposures service to cover years 2010 and 2011 and include exposures to nearly 100 airborne pollutants over that time period. They also have modified the service to accommodate socioenvironmental exposures.
Meeting to be scheduled with Kenan-Flagler Business School: Jim Johnson, Steve Appold (Kenan-FlaglerBS); and Ann Moss Joyner, Allan Parnell (Cedar Grove Institute for Sustainable Communities; KFBS affiliates). Objective is to expand environmental exposures service to include SOCIOenvironmental exposures.
New models developed for exposures to hazardous waste, poverty, SES, crime/violence, and rural/urban environment.
