Problem with filter deprecation notices #245

There is a problem with the filter deprecation notices. I made a mistake when resolving a merge conflict but even after fixing that I get unexpected errors. I am not sure if it's a problem with tests or in the code. Have to look into it so I am afraid we have to wait one day with the release.

WIP branch: fix-deprecation-warnings
