Olympus calls to Phone Numbers (PSTN/SIP) #5

All,

I would like Olympus to be the only piece of software/hardware a person/computer would need to communicate with any other device on a network. I would like Olympus to function/feature as:

  1. Have Olympus be able to receive a call from Restcomm, SIP or webRTC. If Restcomm has to transcode from SIP to webRTC, thats fine.
  2. Give Olympus the ability to use the DialPad to call out to any extension or external number.

Application developers are trying to get rid of the SIP Hard Phones and "push" everyone to a Desktop app on the computer to handle all Voice/Chat Communications.

If its browser based, so much the better.

Thanks

JJS

  1. it will be possible with next version of Restcomm where you will be able to assign a DID to a WebRTC Olympus Client
  2. Agreed, The UX will probably need to be improved to allow similar Google Hangouts dial out functionality. Most PSTN providers don't support WebRTC natively so Olympus will probably need to use the DialVerb and allow seamless calls to PSTN and regular SIP.
