Closed HalfBakedYam closed 2 years ago

HalfBakedYam commented 2 years ago

I load in in minecraft mode, the moment I press M it freezes for a second, then the world saves and the game crashes. This is what it says after the crash. crash report

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

Have had others report this, but not sure what could be causing it If you can, please send me the crash report file. It should be the most recent one in .minecraft/crash-reports

HalfBakedYam commented 2 years ago

Here it is crash-2022-04-28_17.24.53-client.txt

endermyne commented 2 years ago

i have had the same issue

SamDS2109 commented 2 years ago

Same issue, Only happened after I restarted my game after playing, Java is taking up a ton of memory in task manager though. It appears even creating a new world will cause this exact same crash, Again it worked perfectly fine before and I don't understand why this is happening.

StereoCentaur commented 2 years ago

Some problem happens to be as well. Just crashes

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmaly commented 2 years ago

I'm havening the same problem

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

Still investigating this issue. So far all I know is that it's happening on SM64's side which means I have less info to go on

Is there anything that changed after you restarted?

SamDS2109 commented 2 years ago

Usually when I start up the game (and it functions) the Mojang Studios loading screen hangs a little at the end, After restarting a few times (It happens mostly randomly) it no longer happens.

Extra but if you reinstall the ROM and the mod the game returns to a functional state and is playable, I've been doing that.

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

If it's the same invalid memory access message then that helps a lot! I'll look into it. May also be related to #82 ?

endermyne commented 2 years ago

I tried installing a fresh copy of the mod and sm64 and it still didn’t work for me

SamDS2109 commented 2 years ago

It's not related and Yes! it is the same message.

Just built this version, i'm not entirely confident it'll fix the issue but it's worth a shot https://github.com/Retro64Mod/Retro64Mod/suites/6335604619/artifacts/228079554 I suspect there might be some issue extracting the dll/exe files from the jar, since that's what happens at the last part of the Mojang loading screen

SamDS2109 commented 2 years ago

I'll try it out some other time soon, Hopefully that fixes this issue since it's been pretty annoying

endermyne commented 2 years ago

I’ll test it out when I get the chance and let you know if it worked (I hope it does this project is very cool!)

I tried out this version, and had the same crash with the same message.

yeah same

ive found that even after creating an entire brand new profile, it still gives me the same error, once i press M the game freezes then crashes, which is super confusing to me cause usually issues like this you just make a new directory and it works once again before breaking after a reload. ive tried a few different forge versions as well, to no avail. I've even used the default java arguments to see if something there was messing about with it, but nothing. (which i didnt think it would, i was just giving it more memory, but it was worth a try)

It didnt seem to give me a crashlog (at least, its not in the folder it usually dumps them), so ive just attached a general log instead in hopes that might still help debug.log

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

Think I've finally figured out what's causing this for some people and not others. Will hopefully have an updated version with a fix soon

SamDS2109 commented 2 years ago

Awesome! Hoping to see that soon

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

This version should hopefully help with the issue for some https://github.com/Retro64Mod/Retro64Mod/suites/6342849390/artifacts/228564073 If there's still issues, I suspect Windows security doesn't like the way I extract audio data from the ROM, and it's blocking that from being executed

SamDS2109 commented 2 years ago

You should mention on the main page that disabling Windows Defender can help a bit, It certainly helped me.

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

Will do

endermyne commented 2 years ago

It workes!

HalfBakedYam commented 2 years ago

It works for me too

igorek2711 commented 2 years ago

it doesnt for me

MooMew64 commented 2 years ago

It's happening to me as well, unfortunately. The .jar downloads on this page are also being picked up as a threat by my antivirus, and given other issues that have been reported, it seems like Windows REALLY doesn't like this mod's Python script for sound extraction.

ghost commented 2 years ago

So i know this was made A LONG time ago But. i just wanna know how to fix the glitch and yeah ima keep trying into i reach the blue screen of death lol. edit: do i need to download the old version or something?

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

Issue still being worked on but it should be fixed by next update. Temporary fix for now is to disable antivirus if you have it, although I don't recommend it if you don't know what you're doing

ghost commented 2 years ago

ok

dylanpdx commented 2 years ago

Hi, this should be fixed in the next version, which you can currently download here: https://github.com/Retro64Mod/Retro64Mod/actions/runs/2355018454
