Here is the diffrence between shaft and belt drives.
Shaft Drive:
Belt drive:
For the first issue why the profile, its going to be our starting block of the modular systen. The rest of the car will be built around this core piece. Whether one will print or buy a metal profile will be their choice. We need a standadised size to build from or mby a couple sizes based on drive train type.
There is another option we design our own profile mounting system similar to the alluminium profile but fully customised for this project.
Thinking more on this, a custom core centre block will be the way to go. I'll ponder some ideas for this with mounting options etc.
I worked out a rough idea I'll start drawing in CAD soonish. The core will have two types of mounting tnuts on vslots for accessories and heat sunk inserts for mounting the base chassis.
I have worked out a initial core design and files coming soonish.
I am prototyping a core design.
A custom core has been designed so this is now closed.
Was reconmended to start with profile for the modular system.
Looking online there are 3 types of main drive systems. Geared drive - 2wd witrh a gear system attached to a motor, that will be int he back or front modules so not needed here Belt Drive - Street racing cars AWD Shaft drive - More for offroad cars etc but also some street cars
Its up to us to decide what type of profiles to use for both belt and shaft here is 2020. Some 2020 have extra holes we can urilise or go to something like a 3030,![image0 (1)](https://github.com/Revenger/MORCC/assets/597280/d592ad1c-7b93-40bf-8967-28c77d7c1ddb)
There are other types of profiles with diffrent hole mounting. I don't think 2020 profile will support shaft drive as the whole may be too small but will for belt drive it could.
So the purpose of this issue to work through the issue of what profile size we want to use. We could use a bigger profile and if it has a bigger hiole we can dop both belt and shaft so discuss profiles.
