Filtered nodes shouldn't be selectable

Currently filtered nodes are unseen, but they are selectable.

Desired behaviour: Nodes that are hidden cannot be selected.

note for implementation: this bug refers to multiple issues:

• search shows autocomplete dropdown for filtered nodes.
• dom contains nodes that are filtered, causing them to be clickable - just don't create any dom

closed mostly. not updating if selection set and filter changed, but if doing a selection with set filter works correctly.
