I think the best solution is the one provided by graphcommons:
Where there's a drop down for each relationship type.
How this should be in Rhizi:
Clicking on Michel Paradot opens a property box in which there's dropdown that show the list of nodes and edges connected that are of that type. Hovering above an item in the list would highlight it's location on the map.
In Rhizi I'd do the drop-downs for each node type, not edge type.
Drop downs would appear in the node-property box.
List of drop downs should be ordered by number of nodes, most nodes first.
Clicking on the drop down would open a list of nodes of the listed type, ordered alphabetically.
Hovering over a specific node in the list will highlight it on the map.
Clicking on specific node in the list will select it.
Shift-click will enable the selection of multiple nodes, similar to normal shift-click behaviour.
