I have a Maxtor drive, and it was doing the same thing, until I disabled its
"sleep
mode"!
What type/brand of hard drive do you have? Using the manufacturer's software,
have
you turned off the hard drive's "sleep mode"?

Should either merged with issue 102 or
issue 102 should be renamed because their DSI was
not caused by HDD

Suggestion/Question:
Add Option to disable HDD Spin Down.
Why?
(Especially) USB Harddrives use "Advanced Power Management" (APM)
to spin down after x minutes idle time. Many people having problems
when that happens.
Background:
Disabling APM !permanently! is not possible on a lot of USB-HDD's (I use WD for
example).
There are programs (like HDDScan) which can disable APM via USB,
but only temporarily as long as the drive is on power.
To disable it permanently you need/have...
1. luck that the manufacturer of your HDD provide a tool to do this
2. luck and have an 'old' WD where inside is an IDE-/SATA-Drive which can
be connected directly to a computer and use a special program
(like hdparm) to disable APM
3. just whimmer because you have for example a new WD which has a
USB-Connector build-in and you are not able to use option 2.
All people at Option 3 please vote for this suggestion! ;)
Question:
Is USBLoader able to 'talk' to the HDD via USB? Or just 'generic' via WBFS?
There are documented (IDE-)commands to disable APM. And when using this within
USBLoader, it would be just enough to send these commands once so
no need to disable APM permanently.
I'm not sure how many people have that problem, but this could be a
really cool feature!

issue is still present for me (rev 423). I noticed that while playing Guitar
Hero the
harddisc would spin down after a few minutes (around ~5mins) even while playing
a
song. it spins up shortly after, which causes a very noticeable stutter and -
more
importantly - makes the sound completely async to the image.
I hope one of the devs notices this even though it's marked as 'fixed'
already...

yes, this is still an issue and even results in games freezing in some cases.
