Implicit universal selector with attributes yields no results #2

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Run tests with attached patch applied, which exercises the selector case:
[class="checkit"]

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected 2 div elements with class checkit to be selected.
Instead, none are selected.
