Installation Document #1

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
There is a need for installation document. Requirements to setup the
executable file and web management interface.

Original issue reported on code.google.com by burak.o...@gmail.com on 2 May 2010 at 11:29

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
There are installation notes in the "README" file inside the tarball. It covers
configuring the web server, creating SSL certificates, what Perl modules are
needed
by the web application, and what other miscellaneous files are required.

The documentation may not be very clear right now, so please let me know how I
can
improve it, thanks.

Found this project via the slashdot article and very interested.

I would be interested in helping out w/ the project from a documentation point
of
view as I do documentation for the Ubuntu project as well.

What type of documentation would needed to be created?

Indeed it will be useful an installation document on ubuntu. However I will
make an
deb pacakge as soon as possible. After that it will be rather easy to install
it.

Regarding comment #6 by seu.fjx: I released a VirtualBox VM image that you can
install in Windows. It's on the download page in a four-part archive. Be sure
to read the README from the download page and do not use the one included in
the 7z archive.

Hi everyone. Tryed to install OpenDLP on Sabayon (gentoo based). It didn't work
out. For some reason the Apache2 (i think so) doesn't want to start the
server...plus where can i get the so called "winexe" and how can in be
installed. Found it here :

http://sourceforge.net/projects/winexe/files/

So how can i "edit" the server or what might be the reason that the apache2
can't see or doesn't want tot interact with the /var/www/localhost/OpenDLP
server.

P.S. If anyone interested have an course work on this in russian.

A little late on the topic here, but I would definitely like to have some good,
clear installation documentation for OpenDLP. I spent about 6 hours trying to
figure out how to get my server set up. I am trying to install on Fedora 14, so
the README is only somewhat helpful (it gives an idea of how to get things set
up, but the actual steps to get things configured don't match what actually
needs to be performed on Fedora). It would be good to see a step-by-step
installation process written up and provided.

I definitely agree with matt, a clear installation documentation will help a
lot!

I am running OpenDLP-0.4 version. I followed the README and encountered an
error in Apache when I tried to visit https://localhost/OpenDLP, it returned:
[error] [client ::1] attempt to invoke directory as script:
/var/www/localhost/OpenDLP/web/bin/

I tried to follow a tip from http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/DirectoryAsScript
so I removed Script from ScriptAlias and put in within the <Directory> tags:

AddHandler perl-script .pl .cgi
Options ExecCGI

However, it did not help. Please advise. I like to see this tool in action. :(

However, it doesn't help.

I just released a new VM of OpenDLP based on Ubuntu. If you are still having
issues installing it, this VM makes things a lot easier because everything is
already configured for you. You can download it here:
