Can this be used for actual cinema display in theatres? #43

I'm not a programmer but aspiring filmmaker. Can the output of this software be
used for exhibition in movie theatres? What are it's limitations or
shortcomings, if any? What more needs to be implemented in it? I ask because I
can get a few people to actively work on this if it can eventually I can use it
for public exhibition.

What format should the input file be (video and audio)?

This is software for testing AND for specialist that know well what they do,
but N O T to make free films for public exhibitions. Go to nearest post lab and
ask them to make your filmfor digital cinema.

harsh, I suggest checking out DCPC. Its written in German, but there is an
english guide on their site. It will guide you to make a compatible DCP for
digital cinema, for free, using entirely freeware software. Ignore Rado, he
discourages everyone posting on this site.

Just an FYU, I've also written an open source set of DCP tools, including a GUI
version. It runs on Win32/OSX and is fully standalone (requires not extra tools
or libraries).

yes i agree this project and it's admin are very rude and unprofessional and
offensive, no wonder it has been dead and surpassed by many other open source
DCP coders who are happy to work with users to a common productive goal.

@harshalnachnolkar: I'd recommend to look at Terrence's OpenDCP (see his post
above). His toolset is actively maintained and solves a number of quirks which
you might encounter with the somewhat abandoned opencinematools.

@labtopiafarms: You are confused. opencinematools' developer and maintainer is
Marc Vandenbosch. Also, for a number of us, Vandenbosch's opencinematools was
the first available open source codebase that allowed us to explore digital
cinema from a technical pov. While its state is lamentable and it has indeed
been rendered obsolete it is always wise to remember and respect your roots.
