I can confirm that this issue happened to me as well in older revisions (at
first I thought that somehow I did something bad, but then I realized that
something wasn't really alright). I ended up beating the game in any case.

I can confirm this is happening too, I'm using r49 too, will test with the
latest version and report back

Sadly I doubt I can fix this at all, as there is no read error or something DML
related.
Could it just be a game bug?

perhaps. but i ran through on a new game from the disk, works fine. emulator
worked too. thats what made me think it was a DML issue.

I just ran into it myself. Kinda sucks now that this is the only room I have
left for 100%.

Forgot to mention, I am using r52.

Just tried going through the game without it being compressed, and it still is
bugged. I'm on Neogamma56 with DML r55. Think it might be Neogamma's fault?
Maybe retry again with wiiflow, ect?

I put together a simple cheat code to be able to deal with this issue outside
DML (by changing the value in the savegame file directly). The write command to
the related working area of savegame file is at 8001CBE0. My very wild guess is
perhaps the memory area used by DML somehow is also used as a temporary
location to store some values when Slim Bankshot got captured. In case anyone
wants to see, here is the video to show the action of cheat code (see the video
description for this specific cheat code):

Worked for me. Now that "49 boos" is no longer taunting me and I can move on to
the final boss(And just in time for Kid Icarus to be stealing all my time)

Worked for me as well.I used DMLr52_cheats and CFG Loader mod r22.But I didn't
need any
cheats or modifications. It perfectly worked at the first time.So I don't know
why the other people need a cheat to get it work?!Or is it a wii wonder for me?

Interesting to know that, could you try checking the MD5 and SHA-1 for the
game.iso (uncompressed, copied by discex to sd card) of this game? Mine are
(NTSC USA):
e20adaae0b0c2c6c4f530fa8201ef489 7d239f3d21713df3a917ed0515bd4d9769b00c56
And you could use the FCIV from Microsoft to compute those numbers (just follow
the instruction to install in this linked page:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290).
I just want to be sure whether there are different versions of the game disc.

I'm not sure but I think the first gamecube games didn't have any copy
protection.
So after Nintendo had started copy protection maybe another Luigi's Mansion
version
had to come out.But i'm not sure it only could be.

I could also confirm that the PAL version is ok (after using the
force-progressive version of DML so I could test the PAL version of the game on
my NTSC Wii with component cable).

I could say I had tested the Luigi's Mansion PAL version with component cable
in force-progressive video mode. And I noticed the PAL version didn't work in
480p mode.
Only the audio signal could be heard. All my other games like Super Mario
Sunshine PAL,Paper Mario TTYD PAL,etc. worked in this mode. Will it work
everywhen in the future or will it impossible to get this game work in the
progressive mode?Or it already worked for someone and I did something bad.
