What version of the product are you using?
Revision? 1221

Hi,

I've made a synchronisation with may nas and bravo, I retrieve a lot of
information for my movies (I don't know why, it doesn't work well for Tv Shows
and Tv Shows are located in the Movies.
You told me that retrieving some tags from nfo files should work even though
not 100%. I can see that even though I've got an nfo file and cover per movie
(all descriptions are in French), some descriptions are in English. I don't
know how your script(s) work but wouldn't it be possible to first retrieve
information from nfo file and if not found from internet ? Just for
information, I've classified my movies like this :
\\nas\movies\moviename.extension
\\nas\movies\moviename.nfo
\\nas\movies\moviename.tbn
\\nas\movies\moviename.jpg

Only a few covers are showing after synchronisation. Wouldn't be also possible
to use the cover that is located in the same folder as the movie ?

Thank you and good week-end to you.

Jo

Hi Jose,

for now Arts (Cover / Posters and Backdrops) are not supported to be taken from
an XBMC-nfo - or to be more precise: it's not possible to specify a location in
the nfo from where the posters and backdrops should be retrieved. It's also not
possible to "automatically" use such files like XBMC is doing things.

The reason for that is: it's not simply specifying an image (or automatically
finding an image) - the image has to be converted to the correct size before it
can be used in PVMC and during a normal sync run that resizing is done
"externally", i.e. not on your box!

Now in case of using an XBMC-nfo it's not a "regular" sync run any more since
most stuff is retrieved from the nfo-File. Hence we would need to adapt the
workflow a little bit to also convert the local arts, but to not sync the rest.

That would be possible of course and we already did some changes that would
ease the necessary adaption, but from my current point of view it's no change
that could be done within a few hours.

For now you can change the posters and backdrops manually in the Web-Interface.
There you can also specify "local" graphics (that's what I meant some sentence
above: we already made some changes in order to support local graphics) - but
for now this functionality is only usable in the context of the Web-Interface...

I'll change the type of this issue to "enhancement request" and change the
status to "later", since it can not be implemented that fast...

Conderning the problems with TV shows & XBMC NFOs: I never tried it with
TV-shows, but as mentioned in the Wiki: the current functionality should be
seen as "experimental" and we need for sure to revise that stuff. Maybe your
TV-Show problems are related to that. A sync log with debug mode set to "high"
as described here:

http://bit.ly/wHUpP7

should help to reveal the cause of your problems... :-)

Hi Erik,

I'm using your superb media center since I bought my new dreambox (the old one
wasn't able to decode avi files and I really wanted to use Project Valerie
instead of xmbc) and I just wanted to know if you are really going to add the
possibility to use local covers/backdrops (the status of this issue being now
"later" ... which means ?... :-) )
There are too many covers that weren't find so it would take to long for me to
do it manually from the web interface.

Thank you. Have a nice day.

José

Hi there José,

first of all you should thank Schischu, Don, andreassummer et.al. for the great
Plugin - I'm just trying to do some support and to help with defect fixing
(where possible) as best as I can... :-)

Now back to your problem: from a "community" point of view the best thing you
could do, ist to simply add the missing posters to either TheMovieDb (in case
of movies) or to TheTbDb (in case of missinng posters / backdrops for TV
shows). The reason is simply: by doing so you would help ALL users having the
same videos like you...

Besides that we currently only offer the possibility to change poster /
backdrops by utilizing the WebIF (but which could be very time consuming if
there are a lot of videos to be changed - I definitely second that :-) ).

Concernig the status "later":
The request to offer some more possibilities (for example by using some kind of
"NFO-Files" or similar) is "accepted" - but there's no acknowledged time-frame
or date when this feature will be implemented => could be tomorrow - could be
also "months"... Sorry for not having a more precise information on that... :-(

In order to get informed when this feature starts to get implemented you can
"star" this issue by clicking on the little tiny star in the uper left corner
(left-hand of the issue number). By doing so you'll get a notification whenever
this issue gets changed in any way!

HTH & happy syncin' :-)

Cheers, Erik

Hi,

Any news regarding the enhancement?
I can see from downloads section that there has been no development for a few
months.
Thank you Erik.

All the best.
