NOTE: If playing this from a new game, the option "Self-Modifying Checks" must be set at FULL in order for the game to start up, but once you have reached the first save point and save, or have a previous save, you can start the game with SMC set to off which produces better performance.

Great performance overall, custcenes are abysmal with horrible audio crackling and frequent pauses during transitions, but gameplay is very good. Outdoor and indoor environments range from playable to fullspeed, the camera zooms out when you walk or run which loads more assets in and causes slowdown depending on how many other models are on screen.

Menus/UI - (Fullspeed which is 30fps, but with dips during transitions.)

Pre-rendered custcenes - (Speed fluctuates wildly with mostlely being around 19fps, with horrible audio crackling, same for in game cutscenes hovering around 21fps)

Gameplay - (19-30fps, very playable and only when a lot of models or the camera has zoomed out all the way is there any hitches and slowdown but the vast majority is great, Battles operate at fullspeed with occasional dips when certain moves and effects are on screen, audio crackles only when those occasional dips occur otherwise audio is perfect.

Game Tag - Playable

Settings Used Video - Transpararent Sorting (Per Strip) Automatic Frame Skipping (Maximum) Shadows (On or Off, didn't see any differencein performance) Fog (On) Widescreen (Off, not many elements like menus take advantage of widescreen being on and glitches occur on most left and right of screen during gameplay) Texture Filtering (Default) Use Simple Shaders (On) Use Mipmaps (On) Native Depth Interpolation (On, needs to be on in order to see any models during battles) Delay Frame Swapping (On) Internal Resolution (Native) Frame Skipping (0)

Advanced - Dynarec (On) Idle Skip (On) Neon Use SIMD (On) Downclock Ratio - (1.480) Self-Modifying Code Checks: (FULL if starting from new save, or Off is starting from a save file) Other - Multi-Threaded Emulation (On)

In the older version of flycast for vita you needed to leave smc checks on because some spells and attacks use fmvs and the fmvs seem to need the smc checks to run. I suspect it will be the same on this version if a player gets a little further into the game.

I can confirm the game can be played from start to end on vita, the fps goes quite low(lowest i noticed was about 16ish) at some points when the camera sweeps over large towns for cutscenes but the actual dungeons and battles are pretty good.
