Resident Evil Code: Veronica (NTSC) #23

Amazing performance during gameplay where most of the indoor areas can run at up to fullspeed, cutscenes however are very bad with horrible audio crackling. Widescreen works just fine but during cutscenes you will see the black borders and in certain areas a darker tint over the normal game area. When a lot o lf character models or effects are on screen the game can dip very hard with terrible audio crackling as well.

NOTE: Best performance recommended to use Broadcast type as NTSC and Cable as RGB Component, to target the game at 30fps.

Menus/UI - (Fullspeed 30fps with dips during transitions)

Pre-rendered cutscenes - (Anywhere from 12 all the way to fullspeed depending on what's happening.

In Game Cutscenes - (Same as Pre-rendered, can be as low as 12fps all the way to fullspeed depending if there are character models or effects on screen.

Gameplay - (13-30fps depending on how many character models and effects are on screen, in the beginning it's raining but after it stops performance increases and many indoor areas run at fullspeed very playable and enjoyable)

Game Tag - Playable

Settings Used Video - Transpararent Sorting (Per Strip) Automatic Frame Skipping (Maximum) Shadows (On or Off I didn't see any major differences) Fog (On or Off I didn'tsee any major differences) Widescreen (On, some elements will have black borders but majority looks fantastic) Texture Filtering (Default) Use Simple Shaders (On) Use Mipmaps (On) Native Depth Interpolation (On) Delay Frame Swapping (On) Internal Resolution (Native) Frame Skipping (0)

Advanced - Dynarec (On) Idle Skip (On) Neon Use SIMD (On) Downclock Ratio - (1.480) Self-Modifying Code Checks: (Off) Other - Multi-Threaded Emulation (On)

PAL Version and VGA output ON should work better. That's the only way I can play Code Veronica on my old Nexus 7 (2012).

The NTSC has a lot of problems same as you described.

Can confirm what WhastelandBoy stated, PAL version runs overall smoother than NTSC. The PAL-ENG dumps on "the archive" seems to be glitchy and there's no way to correct them through emulator options (1.0.3). Been trying different dumps, you can find a glitchless version on "emulator's paradise", with "United Kingdom" in file name, being a 1.4gb size zip file containing both discs in .gdi format. That works great. Not sure can be directly linked here.

General: Broadcast: NTSC / Region: USA / Cable: VGA

Video:

Audio: Latency: 113 ms

@Zanzibar82 I tried with the UK gdi from "emulator's paradise" and the game is laggy in some areas, like on the first room, it is considerably slow.

On the other hand, being a PAL version, I cannot use Region USA because then the emulator goes to DC bios instead of game. Also, I can't use VGA, I get a message saying that the game is not compatible with it.

So, are your USA/VGA settings posted here for the PAL UK gdi version of the game?

Thanks!

Oh well, I use this bios (retail version) https://japanese-cake.livejournal.com/10056.html see if that helps.

Yep, that was it, thanks!

Is it normal for the first room in the game to have such low FPS?
