I don't have an account, but yesterday simply opening images manually in a browser over a 20 min period, roughly a hundred in total, led to being blocked from opening posts (would go straight to a login prompt). Was IP-based and still in effect after about half an hour, but gone today.
First time it's been that restrictive. Think they've really put the squeeze on now all around.
https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/livefyre/using/streams/c-instagram-rate-limiting.html?lang=en#streams they say that they lowered the limit from 5000 to 200 / token / hour.
Thats quite a significant change
I wondered what was going on when I tried some downloads, maybe... 2-3 weeks ago? The tool I was using was struggling REAL hard to get things without pausing itself/rate-limiting. Poor FB must be just bleeding money to cover all those bandwidth costs. Poor folks might only be able to buy one private island this year. :(

They've made some other changes too, in addition to rate limiting. looks like they're making it harder if you're ripping without an account: https://github.com/ripmeapp2/ripme/issues/32
Ripme version: 1.7.94
java version "1.8.0_281" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_281-b09) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.281-b09, mixed mode)
*Operating system: Win10
Exact URL you were trying to rip when the problem occurred:
Please include any additional information about how to reproduce the problem: Was ripping a public profile, and it locked me out of my account. Would suggest implementing a rate limiter for Instagram when using session ID, even if the photos have been downloaded already, wait a small amount of time before checking the next photo.
Expected Behavior
Instagram account is not affected by ripping activities
Actual Behavior
Instagram account was locked for suspicious activity. Had to change password and confirm via email to unlock the account.
