Rise Raspberry Pi 3 b+ node support. #187

Open veldhuus opened 5 years ago

veldhuus commented 5 years ago

@vekexasia asked me to open an issue for the Node support on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+.

Node support on single-board computers will greatly improve the accessibility for nodes, and will therefore be a great improvement for the whole network.

Your IP address is exposed to the public. Better have a separate IP address if you use RPI.

vekexasia commented 5 years ago

That's a valid point @txt520 But the same happens if you run a btc node as well. I don't think that exposing a node ip is necessary a bad thing.

veldhuus commented 5 years ago

Valid point indeed. However, I feel like protecting/hide your IP is something that the Node holder needs to worry about. It's his/her choice to run a node. A node holder is responsible for its own safety.

Rpi support would be cool, just tried it now... @veldhuus If you really feel anxious about your ip exposure you can enable tor with bitcoin. I don't see why that can't be done with Rise...

https://github.com/Stadicus/guides/blob/master/raspibolt/README.md ^^ Really good guide to getting bitcoin full node and lightning on raspberry pi. Worked great for me.

Support for RPI is already done for many PoS coins. There is a company selling these staking boxes, out of the box. Rise is the next RPI DPoS? https://www.stakebox.org/collections/stakeboxes
