@wally-mac, Jenna Walsh (from the USFS PIBO team) and I have been investigating RCAT outputs for the PIBO project and have noticed a few inconsistencies between RCA. RVD, and BRAT. One of these is that the RCA riparian vegetation departure field VEG does not match the RVD riparian vegetation departure field DEP_RATIO. The only difference we could find between the two calculation methods was that RCA clips vegetation to the valley bottom buffered by 10 meters, while RVD clips vegetation to the valley bottom buffered by 10 meters. Given that 30 meters has a real-world meaning (i.e, the resolution of one LANDFIRE pixel), we are going to change the RCA buffer distance to 30 meters. This should make RCA's and RVD's riparian vegetation departure calculations equivalent.
