Flow Regime #233

Thoughts:

I was thinking this could be a higher level discriminator, as these classifications are at the HUC 12 level. ORNL has developed hydrologic classes based on landscape, climate, topography, and soil attributes image

This might be redundant with EcoRegions (#236 ) as the metric is derived from similar attributes. If so, this flow regime metric might be more useful, as the classifications are already along watershed boundaries.

Units

Unit-less descriptors. These are classes based on modeling from 15 years of stream gage data. Link to paper image

Data source:

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory developed the U.S. Stream Classification System (USSCS) to group streams according to five different variables: hydrologic class, stream size class, stream gradient class, stream temperature class, and stream confinement. Their interactive tool classifies (in most cases) down to the HUC 12 level.
