Export puzzles #36

I would like to be able to export my progress so I can import it into my
new phone.

From what I have read it is only possible if I root my android phone and
copy files from the data folder but I have not rooted my phone.

This will take some time (as I'm really busy at the moment), I hope that I will
have
something functional next weekend (09/10-10/10).

I just want to let you know, that work on this is still in progress. It's
somehow
functional now, however it needs some further polishing and testing.

I'm planning to release test version next weekend (18-10-2009).

Where is the data file stored so I can manually back it up as root?

Sorry for the delay, I was really busy last two weeks.

Here is a quick guide how to export puzzle data and import them in the new
phone:

1) Download installation package with unstable version:
http://opensudoku-android.googlecode.com/files/OpenSudoku-0.7.1-06.apk
2) Install the package by pressing on it in the browser's download screen.
If you run Android 1.6, the installer might ask you to allow "read phone state
and
identity" permission. This is a bug
(http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4101), OpenSudoku does not
need
such permission.
3) Start OpenSudoku, press menu and select "Export all folders", or long-press
on any
folder and select "Export folder".
4) Press Save button, puzzles will be saved in /sdcard/opensudoku directory.
5) You will need the unstable version of OpenSudoku to import puzzles in the new
phone. Just repeat steps 1 and 2 in your new phone.
6) Open file created in step 4, you can do this by using OI File Manager.
Alternatively you can send the exported file to your mail and open it directly
from
the mail app.
7) If you're on Android 1.5, you can install the stable version of OpenSudoku
from
Android Market. On Android 1.6 this is no longer possible, in such case just
use the
unstable version, there are only few changes so it should be pretty stable and
you
will receive updated version when it is officially released.

Hope this helps, if you have any problems or questions, let me know here.
