Rather than having set crafting recipes (Survival style), try a system where ingredients have properties, so when they're combined the resulting potion has a particular damage/condition combo.
Kinda similar to Breath of the Wild cooking system.
E.g. Combining ingredients with 5 fire and 3 cold damage, will result in a potion with 2 fire damage (Might need a UI element to highlight this conflict).
If multiple ingredients have condition effects, only use the condition of the first one encountered (when searching the crafting slots in order).
If the conditions have a probability of effecting, then take the one with the highest probability.
