The safs, marine bio, oceanography, etc communities are often consisting of people who enjoy and spend time in nature. Gatekeeping “outdoorsy-ness” is a serious issue that often excludes women, people of color, lower income individuals, and more. This can often make it difficult to participate in casual conversations at work/school or after-work/weekend activities, which can create a feeling of exclusion from the community as a whole. Here is a link to a list of organizations that are striving to bring more diversity to the outdoors. As the page says — this is not a complete list. So if anybody has other similar resources they would like to share, please do.

@meganewing Would these be added to our lab website or SAFS in general (or both)?
@yaaminiv I'm not sure, but these resources would likely be useful to have available at the departmental level.
added all of these to the lab's DEI resources page on the resource wiki: https://github.com/RobertsLab/resources/wiki/DEI-Resources
Should the "Support Resources at UW" under the code of conduct also be listed with the DEI resources?
Need additional resources re: racism/oppression in STEM/fisheries
added support resources to DEI resources
added articles/reading section with short list of articles
