Function cross() is a misnomer. The tensor product $X\otimes Y$ is never called the "cross" product. The term cross product is reserved almost exclusively for the 3D vector cross product $x\times y$ as used for angular velocity etc. I am going to have to bite the bullet and change this everywhere in the package.
