vanilla-masker -> Inputmask migration path #2244

Hello there 👋,

I just found out I was the last developper within the vanilla-masker org that publishes https://github.com/vanilla-masker/vanilla-masker, which is an input masking library very much like this one! The library originated from https://github.com/Creditas (formerly known as @bankfacil) and they gave ownership to others developpers (who apparently left) and me, 3 years ago.

I did not have much time to contribute ever since (sorry 🤷‍♂).

Your library seems much more functional and updated and used and loved. I'd gladly promote Inputmask in the vanilla-masker README as a viable alternative and, for the sake of our users, I'd like to write a "migration path".

The issue is that I don't have much time to dig into your library. Could you help me out?

Thanks a lot 🙏

@QuentinFchx ,

It is always sad that a successful library stops due to lack of time or devs involved. I hope someone will stand up and continue development of vanilla-masker.

I like to help you out to write the migration path.

The only issue I see is that I cannot claim to be a lightweight library. This hasn't been the focus for inputmask. (maybe I should come with inputmask-lite)

Well, as long as we clearly state that in the README I don't think it is an issue :) People interested in keeping a small payload can keep using it, I'll also give write access to anyone willing to contribute to it.

About the migration path, I'll start a draft in the vanilla-masker repository and I'll probably ping you on the pull request if that's okay.

Thank you for your time!
