Gantry Encoders #1

Hi!

I'm a senior MechE working on my thesis and I decided to use HOPPY as a test platform.

All the parts on the BOM were bought and machined but as we were assembling it, we noticed that the CAD had two encoders that we didn't have on the BOM, one for the rotation position of the gantry/leg on the ground and one for rotation for the up/down of the leg. I was wondering if it was possible to get information on the parts in the encoder assemblies and if there was any information on the counterweight, as we didn't see any specifics.

Hi, If I remember correctly, for the gantry encoder you can use any incremental encoder. You can use pully for higher resolution. There is no specifications on the counterweight. It could be gym weight or anything that is safe to be mounted to the end of the boom.
