Thanks! I guess it is the issue tracked in https://github.com/eric-wieser/ros_numpy/issues/37 and fixed by https://github.com/eric-wieser/ros_numpy/pull/36. Probably we can just add a patch for it, are you interested in contributing the patch to the repo?
An alternative may be to switch to the ros-o version: https://github.com/ros-o/ros_numpy .

Hi all,
I have found a small bug that is related to the fact that numpy 1.24.3 does not support anymore numpy.float . in the script point_cloud2.py line 224 def get_xyz_points(cloud_array, remove_nans=True, dtype=np.float):
should be changed to def get_xyz_points(cloud_array, remove_nans=True, dtype=float):
after that it seems to work
