In sim.launch, there is an issue with the tf prefix parameter. It adds an extra "bowser2" to the file path when attempting to link the Lidar and camera to the main base link.
Solution: Change the tf_prefix value to "", or delete the line ""
This doesn't exist in the fresh versions of ugv_sim using the actual choo_choo model. Gonna mark this as closed, and can re-open it if it reappears.
