This dependency adds inertia to updating Sphinx and sphinx-book-theme. Remove it and just use regular Sphinx figures instead. Main reason why I made sphinx-carousel was to mimic Imgur's embed feature whilst keeping image captions in my version control. However sphinx-carousel has become a burden on me.
After removing it and making a release here, archive sphinx-carousel repo.
