Basically, it is supposed to be a way for archivists to list any forms required for the patron to sign in order to access and use material and somehow verify that it has been done, possibly by recording the date of the signature? Looking at the functionality as it is, I am not really sure what the description field is for? Maybe it would be better to have a field called "Verification" for the staff person's initials or name verifying that they witnessed the signing of the documents?
I can change the name of the field. Of course users can rename it to anything using configure application. Are there any other fields that are needed.
i would like Sibyl and Brian's input on this as I think it is another one of those areas where it made sense in the RAC context originally but now when I look at it from a broader perspective it doesn't. I would be curious to get some non-RAC input....
I don't see the utility in this piece. I can't think of any form that I wouldn't have the patron sign or complete immediately upon a visit, requesting copies, requesting copyright clearance, etc. I can see perhaps, similar to the accession module where you can point to associated documents relating to an accession, a routine where one could point to forms that had been filled out by the patron regarding a visit.
I agree with Brian, it does make sense to record that a form was signed, and the accession module is a good example of tracking this. I think maybe we should have a brainstorming-type session about this, and how it relates to this area. For instance, I see requesting copies as a work order, but copyright clearance may be something to link to an actual publication. I think it would be helpful to have an idea of what the services area will look like, how that links to patron records, and what info needs to be captured in this spot.
Ok, I will schedule a conference call devoted primarily to this issue via email.
All set here, see details that came out of conversation in Issue 62
I moved this over from the Google Doc. I'm not really sure what it entails, at least not enough to test it.
