Incorporating max-width is a good idea, especially on text-heavy sites. We've done this locally in the Blog, rockarch.org, and the Docs Site, but doing it is somewhat specific to the particular layout of a site. There is documentation in the Style Guide on what the max width should be if it is set, so I think that is sufficient for our current use.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
We haven't done much thinking about setting max-widths to handle our content for very large screens. We do it in rockarch.org, but not other sites. I've seen that it is typically recommended for text-heavy sites like blogs.
Describe the solution you'd like
Research best practices for this and consider if it's something we should do for all sites or some sites. If so, decide what page content should have width limits, i.e. should the header and footer be part of this width limit?
